I believe the woman Christian confronts in Australia is Claire's aunt. That's what I always took from it, since her mother was, I believe, still in the hospital at this point.
Thanks, Greg. Another reader pointed out that we haven't met Claire's Aunt yet, and won't until season 3 which explains why I didn't recognize her (well, that and the fact that I'd forgotten Claire has an Aunt!).
