Mmorse, that's an awesome thought, but I believe Locke's mom was shown to be still alive and in contact with Anthony Cooper during Locke's adult flashbacks in Season 1, while Ben's mom died significantly younger than that portrayal of Swoosie Kurtz when Emily Linus gave birth to Ben and later appeared to him on the island. Any work-arounds how your theory may still apply?
Really, hmm I never got that, particularly after the show case a red-haired girl to play young Emily Locke in seaon 4 (although she was a strawberry blonde, fair ginger-haired, I'll allow that).
Though i guess Anthony Cooper is indeed an unreliable narrator and he is the one who stated that the Season 1 lady was in fact John's mom and that she contacted Locke at Cooper's request because she needed money.
I like the theory, but I have to admit I'm still really skeptical. I don't see the physical similarities between the two mutually-accepted certified (non-Swoosie) Emilys. I'd consider that a sloppy set-up if it was the case, but the potential of that Locke-Linus connection would be fascinating. Particularly if Emily herself had greater island ties (which might explain her theory-defying appearance to Ben on-island despite dying on the mainland - unless maybe Roger brought her ashes?).
well, if it's any consolation, i'd rather have been wrong. On the plus side, i'm psyched you got the go-ahead for Season 6 for Chud. Your blog's become my favorite Lost reading online.
Jacob says in "The Incident" that the ghosts Hurley sees are a blessing, not a curse. This leads me to believe that the ghosts (or the ones Hurley sees, anyway) are authentic, non-MIB apparitions.
Watching this season again last week, I was surprised (but not annoyed) that they don't touch on Jack detoxing from the pills. Just flush 'em, and that's all. It would have been interesting to see them deal with that, but would also add some unnecessary drama hindering the narrative.
I enjoyed Carmen not being surprised at all that Hurley's back home, nor that he brought a "dead" body. (She's merely curious about the latter.)
At this point, Ben starts to refer to Jack and the rest of the O6 as if they were his people, The Others. "He's been through a lot. We all have.” In Namaste he tells Sun that he's heading back to "our Island." I think there are a couple other moments like this, but I can't remember them at the moment. Interesting.
My friends and I replayed the Hot Pocket toss about 10 times. Hilarious. What makes it even funnier is the incredulous expression on Ben's face after. 'Really? You're throwing a Hot Pocket?'
I really like you drawing a line between Ana Lucia's warning Hurley "not to get arrested" and Jacob seeming to assume it would happen. If it turns out that the apparitions are generated by the MiB (or some of them are) and Ana Lucia was therefore sent by him, the fact that 'he' felt the need to warn Hurley whereas Jacob simply knew tells me that, as I suspected at the end of season 5, Jacob is still a step (or several) ahead of the MiB.
This is off-topic, but I just watched the Law and Order: SVU episode with Naveen. He was really good. Used his natural accent. I wonder when he had the time to shoot it though, since Lost started production in September and shooting an episode takes one to two weeks. Maybe Sayid gets killed early in the season?
What's in the package that Ben removes from the motel vent? Do we ever find out? I don't remember.
Ben implies that there will be no leaving the Island again after they return, and Jack doesn't argue. Has he given up at this point on getting anyone left off the Island?
Where's Hurley's mother when Ben shows up? I'd love to see those two meet . . .
Carmen says to Hurley, "A good guy doesn't kill any men." Hurley's killed someone. He ran over one of the Others with the Dharma van. Wonder what she'd think of that . . .

ReplyDeleteMiles, I'm almost certain swoozie kurtz was hired by Cooper to 'play' Lockes mom.

Crap. You're right, Miles. Looks like swoozie was Lockes bio mom. Ah well.
